Atlas Ocean Voyages' vessels spend the winter in the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the world, bringing guests face to face with amazing wildlife, glaciers, and landscapes that don't seem real! During the warmer months the ships move to other locations and I was fortunate enough to sail from Lisbon to Malaga, Spain. Our cruise stopped at several ports along the way, including Cadiz, Tangier and Gibraltar. (Trivia question: Where can you WALK across the border from the UK to Spain and back? GIBRALTAR!)
The ship docks right in the heart of the city in Lisbon, as you can see here from this photo I took on deck shortly after boarding:
The food on board was fantastic, and I especially enjoyed the fresh juices snacks from Paula's Pantry, a grab and go coffee and snack bar.
We visited several ports that were new to me, including Tangier. Morocco is a feast for the senses. Ask me about my experience at the market next time we talk. Oh, boy, what a day!
After an amazing week we finished the cruise in Malaga. I found this city to be very walkable, safe, lovely, and really enjoyed my time there. I look forward to going back and exploring this region of Spain further.
